Olympic-Fever in Büren! Germany vs. China !

Five weeks before the opening of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Büren will take on an Olympic atmosphere. Saturday, 5 July,  will witness the presence of Chinese volleyball fans. At 19.30 hours, the women's under-19 national team from the middle region of the German team under national coach Jens Tietböhlin will meet at the Büren Sports Center "Alte Schanze". Title: World champions versus the European champions.

What was regarded as a one-time event in 2000 is happening once again. This time in the form of a  high quality volleyball match in Büren. Thus, on 05 July, the final game in a series of 5 games will be played at Almestadt. The other games are scheduled to be played  at Paderborn, Germany (30.6.08) Höxter (1.7.08), Minden (3.7.08) and Werl (4.7.08), where the two national teams have set up their international training camp quarters.

"The Chinese play a completely different kind of volleyball", says Wolfgang Schütz (Paderborn), head coach of the West German Volleyball Federation. Their offensive game is faster and the field of defense keeps the ball in play, the opponents have to act quickly.For the Chinese team, Germany is the first stop of a European tour to prepare for the Asian Games. The German U 19 National games takes place mainly with trainer Tietböhl for VC Olympia Berlin in the first German league. Four players have their home in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In the Olympic year, it is an added attraction to visitors. And in their friendly match with the former world champions Brazil, the German team proved that they are the best in the world.
